I studied sumi painting for a year with Kaji Also at the Kaji Aso Studios in Boston, then for five years with Ilan Yanizky in Tokyo. We did many traditional subjects such as bamboo, peonies, orchids, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms. Most of those compositions were original to Yanizky-sensei. Here are my own compositions and subjects. Different brushes, different paper and different ink is used than in calligraphy.
